RECYCLED CONCRETE

Our portland cement is locally manufactured here in Arizona. This saves fuel, because it does not need to be transported from another state which in return leaves less CO2 emissions. The metal fibers that we use in our concrete gives a three-dimensional matrix that reinforces our concrete whenever pressure is applied at any angle.  Our sealer is a water-based top coat sealer and is approved by the FDA for food use and, when requested, we can use a soy based sealer. When the concrete is ready to be re-sealed we are able to come into your home and re-seal without any hazardous and harmful chemicals or fumes.

We realize that every product cannot be 100% ECO-friendly however we do offer many products that are green and we continue our research to make our product as ECO-friendly as can be while maintaining cost and integrity.

We are now using the RECYCLED CONCRETE as an aggregate manufactured here in Mesa, Arizona at Contractor’s Landfill and Recycling Inc. which obtains their concrete from the Metro Phoenix area. This recycled concrete which is obtained from demoed buildings, bridges, curbs, foundations, sidewalks and many other areas that concrete would normally go to waste. It is then ran through a state of the art concrete crushing machine that crushes and screeds to our desired 3/8’’ aggregate needed for our concrete.

By adding recycled concrete to our new concrete along with our other recycled products it makes our standard concrete consist of 42 % recycled materials at no additional charge.

By adding a product called FLY ASH (fly ash is a by product of coal burning power plants) or SILICA  FUME ( by product of producing silicon metals and ferrosilicon alloys ) we reduce the use of cement in our concrete by 30%. In return, this leaves a less carbon foot print and a concrete that is more dense and has greater strength.

Concrete Interiors has been working on offering a concrete that leaves less of a carbon footprint. We know that cement is the main ingredient that produces concrete which leaves one of the single largest footprints on the planet. For every pound of cement produced it leaves a pound equally of CO2 emissions. This is due to the fact that to make cement; the main ingredients are lime and other materials; which needs to be crushed and then heated to 2700-3000 degrees in a kiln using oil, coal and gas to heat and then ground to a fine powder. The benefits of cement is that it is some of the most abundant resources on the planet. When manufactured locally, it gives off no off-gassing, toxicity or volatile organic compounds  ( VOC’s ). It is recyclable, sustainable and can be used to create beautiful and complex products.

Here are a few ideas of what we can do with recycled glass concrete which is 80% recycled. We can build furniture, kitchen counters, fireplace surrounds, desks and much more. We like to think “outside the box”.
